    Best for

Highlighted icons show the targets, ground and experience level this detector is built for.

This Garrett AT Pro bundle pairs the AT Pro all-terrain detector with the two tools most AT Pro owners buy within their first month anyway: the Garrett Pro-Pointer AT pinpointer and the Garrett Edge Digger. It is aimed at someone starting out who wants to dig properly from the first hunt, or an experienced detectorist replacing a worn-out kit in one order. If you already own a pinpointer and digger, the Garrett AT Pro on its own is the better buy; if you only need the pinpointer, the AT Pro with Pro-Pointer AT package skips the digger.

Why these three tools belong together

The AT Pro finds the target, the Pro-Pointer AT tells you exactly where it is in the hole, and the Edge Digger gets it out with a plug you can put back. All three share the same water rating in practice: the AT Pro and Pro-Pointer AT are both submersible to 10 feet, so the kit works in creeks, surf and rain without swapping anything. The Edge Digger's 7.5-inch serrated blade cuts roots and hard clay that bend a trowel, and the depth marks on the blade give you a quick read on how deep the coin came from. Our Pro-Pointer AT review covers why we still recommend the wired AT over cheaper pinpointers.

What the AT Pro does in the field

The AT Pro runs at 15 kHz with an 8.5" x 11" PROformance DD coil, a combination that reaches coin-sized targets deep in parks and farm fields while staying sensitive to small relics and thin gold. Pro Mode audio is the reason experienced hunters pick this machine: instead of a flat beep, you hear the target's size and depth in the tone, and Iron Audio lets you hear ferrous junk at low volume so you can pass on bottle caps without digging them. Forty levels of iron discrimination and notch discrimination let you build a pattern for each site, and manual ground balance settles the machine on mineralized ground and wet salt sand where auto balance drifts. If you are deciding between this and the AT Max, our AT Max vs AT Pro comparison walks through the differences. The AT Pro is wired; for wireless audio you can add the Garrett Z-Lynk kit later.

    What's Included

    • Garrett AT Pro metal detector with 8.5" x 11" PROformance DD waterproof search coil
    • Garrett MS-2 headphones (land use only)
    • Garrett Pro-Pointer AT waterproof pinpointer with belt holster and 9V battery
    • Garrett Edge Digger with belt sheath
    • 4 AA batteries for the detector
    • Owner's manuals and warranty cards

The Pro-Pointer AT adds a pinpointer that is waterproof to 10 feet, has three sensitivity levels, a lost-pinpointer alarm and an LED for holes and low light. The Edge Digger adds a purpose-built recovery tool with a serrated cutting edge and a sheath so it rides on your belt instead of in the finds pouch.

Is the Garrett AT Pro waterproof?

Yes, the Garrett AT Pro is fully submersible to 10 feet (3 meters), control box included, so you can hunt creeks, surf lines and shallow lakes without a housing. The MS-2 headphones in this bundle are not waterproof, so unplug them before you wade; Garrett sells a submersible headphone with the AT connector if you plan to detect underwater. The Pro-Pointer AT in this kit is rated to the same 10 feet. See our other waterproof metal detectors for deeper-rated options.

What is the difference between the Garrett AT Pro and AT Max?

The AT Max is the step up: 13.6 kHz, built-in Z-Lynk wireless audio, a True All Metal mode, a backlit display and higher-resolution ground balance, at a higher price. The AT Pro runs 15 kHz with wired audio and no backlight, and for coin and relic hunting in parks and fields it finds the same targets; the Max earns its price on depth in All Metal and on wireless convenience. Our AT Max vs AT Pro comparison goes through it in detail.

Do I need a pinpointer with the Garrett AT Pro?

You do not need one to use the AT Pro, which has its own Pinpoint mode on the control box, but a handheld pinpointer cuts recovery time on almost every target. The detector's pinpoint narrows the target to a few inches; the Pro-Pointer AT then finds it in the plug or the hole wall in seconds instead of sifting dirt with your hands. That is why this bundle includes the Garrett Pro-Pointer AT rather than leaving it as an add-on.
